  • CKF provides 30 hemodialysis (Rs.750/- each) free of charge for deserving patients. Preference is given to people who get financial help from other charities / institutions (matching, equal contribution given). In addition, CKF also recommends help for direct payment from many philanthropists in and around Cochin who had already expressed the desire to help similar kidney patients.
     

  • Participates in many medical camps organized by Care & Share Kerala Chapter and increases awareness about Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD), early detection and its prevention. Also participates in the detection of new cases of diabetes and hypertension.
     

  • Screening for Early Evaluation and Detection of Kidney disease (SEEK) from the Harward School is organizing early detection of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) at 15 centres in India. CKF is organizing the screening of 500 persons at Cochin. 250 people have already been screened at Cochin at 3 camps and the incidence of CKD in these asymptomatic population is around 49 members (@ 25%).
     

  • CKF was a co-host for the ISNCON2005, the 36th National Conference of the Nephrology Association of India at Cochin. The largest number of 147 abstracts, posters presented from various parts of the country shows the interest of delegates at Cochin. A total number of 514 Delegates 119 accompanying persons 126 trade delegates 60 visitors were therefore the ISNCON2005. Vice Adm.S.C.S.Bangara, Flag Officer Commander in chief, Southern Naval Command inaugurated the conference and the presents of Naval Band added more charm to the inauguration. The music programme by Vasundhara Das at Bolgatty Island gave a good exposure to the delegates for a boat trip and a travel to an exotic Island.
     

  • Celebrated the World Kidney Day along with Care & Share and SEEK on 8h March 2006. @ 250 Medical personels attended this awareness programme held at Hotel Le Meridien Cochin.

  • Education grants are given to dialysis personnels for persuing their studies in dialysis and related subjects.
     

  • Rehabilitation of kidney patients / spouse / children
    Efforts have been done under the guidance of     Ms.Madhu Blessy and her friends to rehabilitate the kidney patients to generate some income to support their medical treatment, to give them the feeling of well being with counseling. Interest free non refundable loans are given to rehabilitate them.
     

  • CKF is procuring a lab analysis machine (cost @ 2.5 lakhs) to do the renal function tests in camps as a part of early detection and evaluation of kidney diseases.
     

  • CKF provides 50 dialysis every month, Rs. 750/- for each dialysis. 504 people have already been screened at Cochin in 7 camps and the incidents of CKD in this asymptomatic populations is @ 13.4 %.
